What’s to visit in and around Norfolk

Breckland offers great opportunities for the walker, with many way-marked trails in Thetford Forest and local nature reserves. For the cyclist, there are graded routes in Thetford Forest as well as a selection of other routes in the area.

Breckland is also an ideal touring centre for visiting many other attractions of a different sort. The area in, and around, Breckland was, in early medieval times, one of the most prosperous in England: this is the reason why there are so many interesting market towns, magnificent stately homes and gardens, historic sites, beautiful churches (over 650 in Norfolk and many in Suffolk), imposing cathedrals and colourful villages.

Breckland encompasses a vast area of forest and heathland bordering Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, and it has, reputedly, the driest climate in the UK.
